Aikido of Fresno

Aikido of Fresno officially opened as a full time dojo in January, 1994. The dojo had evolved from an informal club that had been operating in the Fresno area for over 15 years. The dojo, located in Fresno's Tower District, is a beautiful facility with a traditional Japanese atmosphere. Aikido of Fresno is affiliated with the California Aikido Association, the Aikikai, and Iwama Dojo in Ibaraki, Japan. The dojo is also connected with Patrick Cassidy Sensei, 5th dan, initiator and former owner of Aikido of Fresno.

Florian Tan is the head instructor. In November, 2001, Florian took over the Fresno dojo from Patrick Cassidy Sensei. Florian studied Aikido intensively with Lewis de Quiros in Europe and Patrick Cassidy in the USA. Both of those instructors hold 5th degree black blelt and had spent seven years of training in Japan with Saito Morihiro Sensei, 9th dan former head instructor at the Iwama dojo.
