Rising Sun Karate

The Asian Martial Arts Center was established in 1976. It has classes in Japanese Karate, Okinawan weaponry, and kickboxing. The ages of students range from 6 to 72. Shotokan, the style of karate taught at the Rising Sun is one of the most popular and prevalent martial art found throughout the world. The study of Okinawan weapons includes the following: bo, tonfa, sai, kama, and nunchaku. The kickboxing program focuses on effective techniques and conditioning.

Chief instructor William Cho began his study of martial arts in 1979. He is also chief instructor of karate and kickboxing at California State University, Fresno. His philosophy on teaching at the Asian Martial Arts Center is to emphasize martial arts as a way of life and personal growth.
