Faculty and staff may access the wireless network
at FCC with their personal equipment using the following
configuration information provided below. The WLAN at
FCC requires the user to authenticate to the network
using the same username and password that is used to
access your desktop computer in your office.
The authentication
is called WPA and the encryption type should be either
TKIP or CCIS. Configuration assistance is available from
the helpdesk at 5770 but is limited to phone support,
not physical configuration.
Once the wireless network
configuration is done the user will open the web browser
and will be directed to a logon page (click
here for screenshot). The user is reguired to log
in in order to get access to the network.
The SSID for personal equipment is the same as the student
SSID:
SCCCDNET1
The WPA passphrase is also the
same as the students:
SCCCDNET1
Please Note:
“As part of the login process
the user will be asked to allow an Active X session
to scan your computer. This must be permitted
or the computer will not be able to connect to network. The
scan will list of any tracking cookies, spyware,
etc. found on the computer. At this time the
scan will not prevent the computer from connecting
to the network, it will just inform the user of malicious
items found which can be deleted or not deleted. In
the future, we will use the scanning function to
make sure anti-virus and proper operating system
patches have been applied to the computer prior to
gaining access to the campus network.”
